— WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The International Monetary Fund's policy-setting committee said on Saturday that the fund and World Bank were ready to help in the reconstruction of war-ravaged Iraq, and called for the involvement of the Paris Club of country creditors to look at the country's debts.

"The IMF and World Bank stand ready to play their normal role in Iraq's redevelopment at the appropriate time ... It is important to address the debt issue, and we look forward to early engagement of the Paris Club," the International Monetary and Financial Committee said in a statement.

The Group of Seven financial leaders said earlier on Saturday the framework for rebuilding Iraq should be based on a new U.N. Security Council resolution and British Finance Minister Gordon Brown, who chaired the IMFC meeting, and said this was their unanimous view.
